Review: Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas

“ And then I am going to rattle the stars.”

Title: Heir of Fire

Author: Sarah J Maas

Series: Book 3 of Throne of Glass Series

Genres: Romance, Young Adult, Fantasy, Magic, Fae

Heir of Fire is slower than Crown of Midnight. That was my first thought, as I read on and on about Celaena's back story. It wasn't boring, because all the facts we learned were incredible and interesting but it did drag on for a little. Hence the non 5 star rating. I enjoyed the new characters that were added (ROWAN FINALLY). I knew that there was going to be a new guy added to the mix and honestly I was a little scared of not enjoying Rowan because I had fallen in lovee (real love) with Dorian. My heart still breaks with Dorian, I feel he's such a rich and maybe even under appreciated character. However, I did fall in love with Rowan and all the brutally slow romance-ish scenes had me begging for more.

Celeana's background is uncovered in this installment, and it was great to see more of her Fae side than in previous books. I did find myself missing the action between Dorian, Chaol and Celaena but also appreciated the separation of the characters so more could be added.

Overall I know that the next one is going to be better because the ending was perfection and it set the mood so perfectly for what is to come.

Now here are my thoughts on the new additions: Rowan is incredible and I cannot wait for his character to grow even more and for the possible romance to bloom. I loved the addition of Aedion, who happens to be Celaena's cousin. I just have a feeling that he is more important than what appears to be and I hope his character is well developed because he has so much potential. Now, Sorscha I kind of didn't like. I think she was a bit of a pansy, until the ending (THE ENDING). I also feel that I fell in love with Dorian so much (for myself) that Sorscha wasn't good enough for him lol.

Anyways, the ending was brutal and cruel and so exciting. I can't wait for Chaol and Celaena to meet again and hopefully she'll break his heart. I am not a fan of him at all, I don't hate him but I do feel he contradicts himself and that infuriates me.

“You cannot pick and choose what parts of her to love.” This quote said by Dorian sums up my feelings about Chaol. NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR HER.
