The next few months are looking hopeful, sweet, and magical. I am hoping it is the same for you. My reads this year have been a mix of inspiring, sad, and thrilling and I am excited to see which other ones make it out of my TBR this year.

This was the most simple yet adorable love story. Abby doesn’t fail once again. I understand that some people cringed at the Rhysand references, but I genuinely felt I was reading a real, in this world, type of love story and it felt refreshing ??

The love-distance relationship aspect of the story and how the couple tried to work every single thing to make it work was inspiring. I also loved the depth the family troubles added to the book and how it shaped the characters.

Maybe I read it at the right time, or maybe I am just a sucker for Abby’s book, but this one was exactly what I needed.

sunrise of the reaping | book review 🐍

this book was EVERYTHING. I felt the joy of being back in this messy, hard, and collapsing world of Panem. I felt the bitter sweetness of learning who Haymitch was and the reasons that led to his attitude and alcoholism in the trilogy. I wasn’t expecting to be as affected as this book as I was.

It really reminded me the reason I fell in love with Suzanne’s writing. What makes her the epitome of what it means to build a world for thousands to fall in love with. Please read this book, there is so much to say about it.

By Any Other Name 3.5 stars / historical fiction, for the Shakespeare lovers, dual timeline.

Onyx Storm 5 stars / rebecca yaros’ best work, Xaden is TOP tier book boyfriend, so many good characters and plot points.

“When I stepped out into the sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home” 🎥

I had the opportunity to watch @outsidersmusical on Broadway last week and it has to be one of the best musicals I have watched. From the performances, the singing and acting to the gut wrenching songs, it was more than I could ever want from one of my favorite childhood books.

10/10 recommend this experience 🤎

Foxglove - a great YA. Sequel of an amazing series. Follow the story of Signa and Death as they uncover mysteries in her uncles beautiful manor. Gothic, dark, and poignant.

The Ladies of the Secret Circus - great for fans of the night circus (like me). Love the story, fun plot twists and the writing is beautiful.

Blue Sisters - a beautiful tale of sisterhood and grief.

The Boyfriend - a skippable thriller but fun and fast-paced.

Powerless - yes I loved it. Yes it reads more like a fan fiction of all my favorite YA dystopias.

The Seven Year Slip - magical realism, time travel and romance, and delicious food references !!

Kill Switch - dark, steamy, and Damon Torrence is an angel in my eyes ❤️

and id marry you with paper rings 💍🍑 this book had my heart since the beginning. Eli and Georgia’s love story was the definition of a well made second chance romance.

You can find some of your favorite tropes like forced proximity, second chance romance, he falls first, only one bed AND I think paper rings should be a trope of its own!!

Not only their love story but their growth as human beings really got to me. I think the author did a really good job at showing the good, the bad, and the ugly and how they were BOTH working on being better for themselves and for each other! Throw in a little banter and steamy scenes and you have a 5/5 star book ✨✨

5 stars! Second chance romances are my thing so it isn’t a surprise but I loved it. Eli and Georgia’s relationship was incredibly developed between ages and ages of friendship and loyalty to each other.

House of Glass 🧐🍸🔍
4 stars! A thrilling book, there were lots of twists and turns. Kind of spooky. The middle was the best part, the ending was kind of underwhelming.

Wild Eyes 🤠🐮🎥
4 stars! Such a swoon-worthy story. I liked the first one more (never love the Hollywood/rock star trope) but this one was so so good. There was my favorite trope (single dad) so an easy and fun read.

The Perfect Couple 🌊🔍
3.5 stars! Quick read and fun. Can’t wait to see the show. I like how it switched between characters, think the ending was underwhelming.

Ali hazelwood has mended my heart with this new book!! It is so different from what I am used to reading in her books. This one felt more raw, more sensual, more, more, more 💘💘

Eli and Rue are the epitome of “let’s make it work.” It was such a unique story of how love can be the answer when both are willing to input their love and care in the relationship. It added the workplace/science quirks that Ali always adds in a beautiful and more intimate way.

The book discusses trust issues, betrayal, loving someone yet not to their standards, being enough, friendships and family drama and it all worked so well with the main characters devolving once in a lifetime feelings for each other 💫

Overall rating: 4 stars

never by jessa hastings book review 🧚🏼💫

The retelling is basically the story of the grandkids of the original characters, and we get to explore things like family ties and responsabilities. What is expected of Daphne vs what she wants. What she believes she is to follow vs the destiny that is really hers.

As the book unfolds, we do not find the Peter we all grew to love. Instead, he is a liar and a cheater who blames his acts of forgetfullness but it is blatent child and narcissist behavior. Many reviews I read hated this, but I think imo it was the whole point. Peter Pan is NOT a likeable character yet the toxicity and drawl to him was so beautiful conveyed through Daphne’s confusion. She knew he was not what she expected but she could not make the decision to leave him, and although this is a fantasy I think many of us in the normal world have been in that same position.

Now for Hook, I loved his character. He wasn’t perfect either and maybe this book was not placed correctly in terms of genres. It did read at times as a dark romance and it was a bit smuttier than a lot of readers might of expected. But in my eyes it developed a better and more mature story where no one is perfect and all characters were extremely flawed (as Jessa Hastings characters tend to be).

My favorite thing of the book was the hints of the original story and the whismical magical realism way it was written. I can imagine all the scenes so vividly and that is because Jessa Hastings was able to drop us right there in Neverland with her!!

ugh hemmes and daisy will be the death of me 💀 I absolutely loved their story and how unapologetically raw and real it was. They were moths to a flame but they did not act like it until it was too freaking late.

hemmes and his undying love for magnolia parks was killing me bc I knew how much Daisy wanted that love to be reciprocated and hemmes was being too obtuse to see it. Until ofc Romeo walks and in and it is too. fucking. late.

I like magnolia’s book, but for me Daisy was not only more relatable but also more lovable. She was vulnerable, sweet yet unapologetically herself. She is who I aspire to be (minus the mafia gangs + unrequited love). The whole Julian gang lord sub story is 10/10!!!

I hope this works well for them. I hope its daisy and hemmes in the end bc they deserve to be okay and it’s all that I’ve been thinking about for the last 24 hours. let hemmes make it work (thanks 🤞🏽)

the boys of tommen series has my heart 💓💓

They are all over tik tok and bookstagram so I had to get my hand on them. I am super glad I did, HOWEVER unpopular opinion coming:

I think they’re a little bit overrated. I think they’re amazing books and have great characters BUT I was expecting Say You Swear excellence and was a little disappointed with the pace of the book. It’s a little repetitive in terms of scenes & thoughts, and it’s a long long book.

NOW, that doesn’t mean I didn’t love them because boy did I eat them up. And I cannot wait to start on Joey’s book which slowly became a character that broke my heart �💔
